Houston County Electric Cooperative Statement Regarding Application for Water Well production on Red Town Ranch Property
Houston County Electric Cooperative is the electric service provider for Red Town Ranch. We have a 3-phase power line to the property and have served various sites on the property for decades. In 2023, we were contacted to provide an upgrade for a single well. A possibility of future upgrades was mentioned. The magnitude of future upgrades was never discussed nor disclosed.
The water permit applications submitted to the Neches and Trinity Valleys Groundwater Conservation District by Redtown Ranch Holdings, LLC will cost millions in electric infrastructure upgrades and a minimum of 5-6 years to construct. We do not have electric service applications for the sites in the water permit application, and HCEC has not been approached for additional electric service capacity.
As a member of this community, we do not support any action that will harm our members and the counties we proudly serve.
